The boy is Cass (Omari Hardwick), an LA nightclub promoter whose once-promisiing filmmaking career has been put on hold. The girl is Frida (Meagan Good), a lawyer visiting from the Midwest, whom he meets on election night 2016. The dream is what unfolds before our eyes in one seemingly continuous, hallucinatory take as the two navigate a will-they or won’t they mutual attraction; open up to one another about their hopes and disappointments; and – along with the rest of the world – begin to process the momentous political sea change washing over American, all in the course of a single evening. A Boy. A Girl. A Dream. takes viewers on a profound emotional journey as it explores how everything can change in an instant.
Late April 2017, it was reported that Meagan Good Omari Hardwick joined the cast opposite Omari Hardwick. Principal photography began in Los Angeles (Mid-April 2017).
A year later, Samuel Goldwyn Films acquired worldwide rights to “A Boy. A Girl. A Dream.”
trivia & facts
Filmed in one single take. The crew had to plan for months and choreograph the changing settings, chance encounters ect. As Qasim Basir put it during Sundance 2018, it was the hardest thing he has ever done. He cited the German movie “Victoria” with its single-take production as inspiration.
quotes from meagan
“I had to memorize the entire script! Most of the time, you memorize your stuff, four or five scenes for the next day and so on and so on… So to memorize all at once was a challenge. […] If you mess up one thing, we are starting all over again and belive me, we started all over again quite a few times! […] It was definitely a challenge but definitely an incredible fun experience and something I’m super excited about to be part of.”

quotes from cast & crew
“[On why he chose Meagan Good for the movie] She really championed my work early on. I’m a loyal person and I couldn’t thank her enough for believing in me early in my career and we’ve continued to work together.”
–Datari Turner, Producer (Vibe.com)
“[On how he met Meagan Good] Meagan and Omari are dear, close personal friends of mine. […] Meagan is sort of like my producing partner. We’ve made five movies together. Her husband Devon is a childhood friend of mine, but Meagan was the first actress to believe in me when I was leaving the fashion industry and was making the transition to a producer.”
–Datari Turner, Producer (Vibe.com)
“Both [Meagan] Good and [Omari] Hardwick are attractive, charismatic performers who have no trouble bringing laser focus to a demanding task. Though we may wish the structure allowed space to learn more about their characters, it’s to the actors’ credit that we’d be happy to do so — even to the extent of a follow-up feature.”
